Georg Michael Soterius the younger was the eldest son of Georg the Elder born on 4th November 1704 in Hermannstadt (Sibiu or Nagyszeben). He too attended universities in Germany where he received the Magister's degree in Leipzig. The much celebrated German poet Gotsched sent him a letter of congratulations. As a young professor he then began to give lectures at the university. His father's death in 1728 prevented him from staying in Germany, so he returned to Hermannstadt (Sibiu or Nagyszeben) where he taught and became a headmaster in 1733. In 1739 he married Anna Katherina Breckner von Bruckenthal (1713-63) the sister of Samuel Breckner von Bruckenthal, who later became Governor of Transylvania.
It was in the young headmaster's house, where Samuel Bruckenthal found friendly accommodation whilst he attended the gymnasium in Hermannstadt.
In April 1741, Georg Soterius was appointed Lutheran pastor in Schellenberg and in 1746 he went to Stolzenburg (Szelindek or Slimnic). He later became dean of the "Hermannstädter Kapitel".
He was considered a man of excellence and scholarship and he went on to write several essays and a religious book.
Of him, the family only possess a pastoral poem, which he wrote in celebration of a friend's, Johannes Filtsch's marriage to Anna Maria Keslerin on 25th May 1740.
He died in 1756 in Stolzenburg (Szelindek or Slimnic) and is buried to the right of the altar in the Lutheran church.
Their children were: Johann Michael Soterius von Sachsenheim (the elder), Anna Sophie, Katherina and Anna Maria. The daughters all married but how their family lines continued is not accurately know. Johann is written about on his own page.
